Throughout the year, the Career and Education team holds special events and initiatives across the West Central Texas region for students, parents, teachers, employers, and community partners to engage in the world of work. Being able to see work in action, hear employers discuss specific careers, and engage with partners are important steps to developing a well-rounded workforce.
Yearly Events & Initiatives
The team kicks off the year with the World of Work (WOW) Youth Expo in the fall, followed by our video contest, Careers in Action.Celebrate Careers is a month-long initiative to dive deeper into the in-demand careers in our region and is held in February. Career Signing Day is held in the spring to recognize regional seniors and their post-high school plans. What's Next is an event specifically held for seniors in the spring to decide what they would like to do after high school. During the summer months, we hold our Teacher Externship program where we pair local teachers with regional employers so they can bring a better understanding of the workforce back into their classroom. No matter the time of year, students, employers, parents, and educators can get plugged in to the world of work.
