Training Opportunities

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas is excited to continue offering expanded training opportunities for child care providers! New workshops are added periodically, so stay tuned. With a variety of training topics covered throughout the course there is something for the first time caregiver and the experienced facility owner.

Child Development Associate Credential Program

The Child Development Associate (CDA) program in partnership with Cisco College includes 120 hours of Early Childhood training covering eight subject areas and six competencies. There are 80 hours of classroom training and an additional commitment to complete 40 hours of on-the-job practical application including activity documentation. 

Participant Details

Providers must currently meet minimum requirements of the CDA Council to be eligible to take the CDA test, and be willing to actively participate in CDA preparation for assessment. Workforce Solutions will provide a scholarship to cover costs associated with the program ($500 value) for those who qualify.

Early Childhood Education Scholarship

The Early Childhood Education Scholarship program promotes educational advancement for early childhood professionals. Our goal is to grow and support the early childhood workforce in West Central Texas.

Scholarship Guidelines

We are partnering with Cisco College, Ranger College, and Western Texas College to provide scholarship funding for early childhood courses at their institutions. Using funds awarded by the Board, the College will award scholarships up to $500 to eligible candidates based on the information provided in the application. Unlike some scholarship programs that limit each student to one lifetime award, applicants can receive awards each semester that funding is available throughout their career journey to advance as an early childhood professional.

Minimum Criteria for Qualification

  1. The class for which the Applicant is enrolled must have a CDEC/ECE course designation for which a minimum of 3 credit hours are awarded upon successful completion. 
  2. Applicant’s employer must be a Child Care Services (CCS) contracted provider as of the start date of the class for which the Applicant is being awarded a scholarship. 
  3. Applicant must be employed full time (30 hours or more per week) as of the start date of the class for which the Applicant is being awarded a scholarship.
  4. Applicant must live and/or work in one of the following 19 counties: Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor or Throckmorton.
