EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED:
Plan, organize, supervise, train, and direct activities in the Parks & Recreation Department; Prepare cost estimates for projects, tools, equipment, and materials; Purchase necessary materials for related projects.
Maintain records of work performed and prepare monthly, weekly and/or daily reports as required; Inspect and provide safety inspections of parks and playground equipment with proper documentation;
Assist in working with Community Service Workers, Havin’s Unit, Keep Brownwood Beautiful, and other groups community groups. Assist Director in short and long-range planning; Responsibility extends
to performing all duties of the Director of Parks & Recreation in his/her absence. Performs other duties as assigned by Parks & Recreation Director.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
Directly: Sports Complex Supervisor, Recreation/Aquatics Supervisor, Parks & Recreation Light Equipment Operators Level 4.
Indirectly: Parks & Recreation Light Equipment Operators (Levels 1-3), Park Maintenance/Irrigation Techs, Part-time & Seasonal Positions. Any additional staff as directed by Director.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Primarily outdoors; moderate physical activity. May be subject to adverse weather conditions, noise, dangerous machinery, electrical lines, chemicals, and heights; subject to emergency calls, and required to work some weekends and afterhours. Ability to transport self from site to site. Ability to drive various types of equipment and vehicles at work sites. Employee will work in extreme temperatures, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and lifting to maintain or repair equipment and infrastructure. Employee will work with chemical, mechanical, electrical and traffic hazards.
