[ARCHIVED] Court Administrator

The Court Administrator is a responsible position that works under the general supervision of the Judge. The Court Administrator assists the Judge with administrative, executive and judicial responsibilities. In addition, the Court Administrator provides the Judge with secretarial support and may assist, if requested, with various projects related to the office and court system. The person occupying this position must exhibit professionalism and must have thorough knowledge of the operation of the court and how it interacts with others. Works under pressure and with deadlines; must deal with the public, attorneys, and other parties with sensitive matters and situations involving the office.



Essential Job Functions:

1. Prepares court documents, such as court setting letters, jury charges and memorandum for the court.

2. Schedules hearings, appointments and maintains the Judges calendar.

3. Schedules the court docket, follows through on cases set for court, contacting attorneys, pulling files and pending pleadings.

4. Manages the jury docket.

5. Screens telephone calls and non-scheduled drop-ins by citizens, attorneys, parties in court cases and county officials.

6. Maintains attorney ad litem, mediators and social worker lists for court appointments.

7. Processes mail for Judge.

8. Responds to questions posed by the public, county officials, attorneys, etc. as required, either in person or through other office staff as appropriate or directed.

9. Performs other duties as assigned within professional competency.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Secretarial and clerical skills.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Skill in operating personal computers specifically word processing software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees and officials, attorneys and the general public.
  • Ability to learn courtroom and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to learn the effects of legal documents used in Court.
  • Attention to detail in written communication, including spelling and good grammar.
  • Must exhibit professionalism and flexibility.

 

Pay: $45,000-$56,232.78 (Depending on Experience)
