Case Manager—Crisis Interventionist

Job Description:
- Under the general supervision of the crisis supervisor and with some latitude for independent judgment, the Crisis and Intake Specialist assesses crisis situations, obtains and coordinates services for individuals in crisis to ensure the individual’s needs are met
- Primary responsibilities include screening, crisis intervention, performing comprehensive onsite and mobile crisis outreach assessments, developing a crisis resolution with client, family members, or other interested parties
- Making decisions regarding disposition of crisis re: return home, respite, hospitalization, intake and continuity of care
- Work requires aggressive intervention and frequent in-person contact with individuals, families, and service providers
- Incumbent will be working closely with clients and must be able to lift in excess of 45 pounds
Job Qualifications:
- A bachelor or master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social services or related field required and be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
- A minimum of 6 months experience in mental health and mental retardation field with crisis experience strongly desired. Knowledge of mental illness, mental retardation, medications, resources and commitment procedures is essential in performing a wide range of intake and continuity duties
- Professionalism in dealing with community officials and resources is a must, displaying good oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills are essential, and must be able to work in stressful situations
- Position requires travel within a seven-county area while on call. A valid Texas Driver’s License with driving record to comply with CFLR is essential
