Position Responsibilities
The Curator will be responsible for the planning and execution of all exhibits and manage all aspects of the museum’s collections, including utilizing PastPerfect software, maintaining and improving collections storage and records, and managing accessions. They will assist in the grant writing process for exhibits and collections projects. They will assist the public with research and photograph requests, conduct public presentations and tours to promote the museum’s exhibits and collections, coordinate and supervise volunteers and interns, create social media content to promote the Curatorial department, assist with event planning and execution, and write quarterly newsletter articles. Other duties include assisting in the AAM re-accreditation of the museum, providing leadership to help activate new projects, and performing duties as they arise. This is a Monday through Friday position with occasional evening and weekend assignments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in History or related field or 3 years of museum experience in collections management and exhibit planning
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience
Working knowledge of PastPerfect or other collections database software required
Graphic design, theatre/scenic design, or set design experience a plus
Public speaking abilities
