General Description:
The SB 292 Jail Diversion Specialist will work under the general supervision of the Director of Crisis and Forensic Services, with some latitude for independent judgment. The SB 292 Jail Diversion Specialist will operate within the Brown County Jail providing onsite crisis assessments; review and follow up on high need jail screenings, and work toward program goals of jail diversion, avoidance of re-arrest and recidivism at psychiatric facilities. This position will also provide linkage to Center for Life Resources services or screening, provide post-jail follow up services, and report program required data on a monthly basis. Primary responsibilities include screening, crisis intervention, performing comprehensive linkage services to local resources, and potentially working with individual’s family members, or other interested parties. This position will require strong decision-making and communication skills, professionalism in working with community partners, and the individual must be a team player.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s or master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social services or related field required to be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). A minimum of 6 months experience in behavioral health field is strongly desired. Knowledge of mental illness, mental retardation, medications, resources and commitment procedures is essential in performing a wide range of intake and continuity duties.
Salary: $16.31 per hour
