District Design Supervisor
Position Description:
Supervises personnel engaged in transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or bridge inspection. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials, private entities and/or contractors. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Duties:
- Directs the design and/or implementation of pollution prevention plans on construction projects or develops and implements storm water pollution prevention plans for construction projects. Oversees Consultant Contract Administration. Coordinates with area engineers on design and plan preparation.
- Monitors contract performance evaluates contract deliverables, reviews billing documentation, monitors the consultant's compliance with the terms of the contract, and/or prepares and delivers a written evaluation of the consultant's performance.
- Negotiates fees and budgets, develops and negotiates scopes of work, negotiates contract work schedules, and negotiates other contract agreements.
- Oversees career development activities for engineering assistants.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
Experience:
- 4 years’ experience in transportation engineering. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
- Must have one (1) year supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
Licenses and Certification:
- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Salary: $97,010 - $164,069 per year
