About The Workforce Board

The Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board is one of 28 regional workforce boards in Texas. The local workforce development area consists of the following counties: Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackleford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton. Local boards were created by the Texas legislature in 1995 to move control of a variety of workforce programs from state government to local decision-makers.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Labor Market Expert: Access labor market tools and information to identify growth industries, guide investments of training funds, and to assist economic development, business, and education
  • Neutral Convener: Bring together business, education, economic development, and community leaders to address workforce issues
  • Oversight & Evaluation: Regular oversight and evaluation of program and system performance
  • Policymaker: Establish local policy related to workforce programs
  • Strategic Planner: Identify current and future trends in the regional economy and workforce and develop strategies

The mission of the Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board is to provide resources for good jobs, strong employers, and a healthy regional economy.
